Arctic Circle Baptism

This is a continuation of my Hurtigruten Expedition around Iceland!

Because of the rough seas, we were unable to go to Grimsey Island.  Instead, we were redirected to the town of Husavik.  This change gave us plenty of time to witness the Article Circle Baptism ceremony.  This was so much fun to watch.  Let me know in the comments below if you would volunteer for this baptism!

So, would you volunteer?!?

After the baptism ceremony, I walked through the beautiful town of Husavik.  The Lutheran church in the center of town was consecrated in 1907.

This church was built in the form of a cross with wood imported from Norway.  Unfortunately, the church was locked.

I enjoyed walking through the town of Husavik.

The next morning, it was very foggy.  After a nice hot shower, I took my book to the lounge on the 10th deck.  I was the only one in the lounge.  Everyone was either sleeping or at breakfast.  After about 15 minutes of reading, I took a break and looked up.

The beautiful mountains were perched above the fog.

I then walked to the 11th deck and was able to take these beautiful pictures of the snowcapped mountains of Iceland.

Before long, we were in port and ready to embark on another expedition. This time, we were exploring the puffins of Iceland. Here is a beautiful video of these amazing creatures.

Our next stop was Heimaey.  At this location, we explored lava fields, saw a volcano located so close to the city, and discovered a beautiful church in the center of town.

My Rib Boat Safari Adventure was the highlight of this Iceland adventure.

I am ready to explore the water caves of Iceland!

What an adventure!!!!

This was an amazing trip. I spent the last day of my adventure in Reykjavik and then headed home to Florida.  It was quite a transition to go from 40-degree weather to 82-degree weather.  I loved Iceland and enjoyed Hurtigruten, once again. Stay tuned for more travel blogs! The adventure continues!
