To be sure I wouldn’t run out of reading material, I took three books with me on my Alaska Adventure.  I was able to finish reading two of the three books and enjoyed each of them for different reasons.  It is always good to bring different types of reading with you just in case one of the books selected is a flop.  In my case, however, both books were a big hit!

Heart of a Kingdom, by Lisa Bain, is a good fictional story of a young widow written by a widow.  The author speaks from experience as she shares the pain and grief of the main character, Queen Libby.  Through the process of grief, Queen Libby realizes her strength and blossoms into a true leader.  I enjoyed learning about the Kingdom of the Talking Trees and related in many ways to Queen Libby’s heartache and struggle to discover her new identify without the leadership of her husband, King Dale.

Your Blue Flame by Jennifer Fulwiler is a GREAT book for EVERYONE!  I laughed, I cried, and I realized the importance of my blue flame.  Many times, we think we have life figured out and then life happens, and our world is turned upside down.  Jennifer teaches us how to find our blue flame no matter how many times we must do this.  Shifting from one purpose to another is what life is all about.  It is how we grow and how we discover all that God has planned for us.  No matter how bizarre your blue flame seems to be – like starting a blog the same year you get a Medicare card – your blue flame is what gives you joy because it is what God intends for you to do.
