Reversion & Conversion

Shortly after my second book was published, I created a press release and developed a list of places to send it.  At the top of the list was the Augustine Institute.  I am a Mission Circle member of the Augustine Institute and receive a short daily reflection video each morning on the Mass readings for that day.  The video is hosted by the President of the Augustine Institute, Dr. Tim Gray.

I forwarded my press release to the Augustine Institute and received a response from Eddie Trask, Manager of Digital Consumer Products at the Institute.  Eddie invited me to be interviewed on his YouTube channel titled – Catholic Re-Con.  On this channel, Eddie interviews reverts and converts.

I was intrigued and wanted to learn more about Eddie Trask.  Eddie is a revert – like me.  We are both cradle Catholics, but we walked away and then came back full force.  Eddie shares his testimony in his book titled, Confession All.  I immediately ordered his book and will be reading it on my next trip.  (Will post it on my Book Review page before the end of the year!!!)  Eddie’s testimony is also on his website and YouTube channel.

As I learned more about Eddie Trask and prepared for my interview, I recalled my feelings of despair when my son, Danny was diagnosed with irreversible brain damage.  I felt truly alone.  As I looked around, there was no one in my circle of family or friends that had a child with disabilities.  I didn’t realize it then, but I certainly realize it now that God was leading me out of my comfort zone.  Once I stepped outside of my circle, I found many families of children with disabilities, and I realized that I truly was not alone.

As I think about my reversion, there are feelings of shame – Why did I ever leave in the first place?  When the feelings of loneliness came, I knew – based on my previous experience – that I needed to move beyond my comfort zone.  As I continue to study and move closer to God, I find others – like Eddie Trask – who have taken the time to dig for answers.  These are the people who experience reversion and conversion.

Thank you, Eddie Trask for the opportunity to share my reversion story.

I know there are many of us out there who have a story of reversion and/or conversion.  Let me know in the comments below what your experience is of coming to the Lord.

Merry Christmas to all of you and May God bless you and your families!
