Special Event in Lexington

The Magnificat Prayer Breakfasts began in 1981 in the Archdiocese of New Orleans with more than 200 women in attendance.  Today, this event is held in many states with more than 100 chapters.

Through an online Catholic women’s group, I met a woman from Kentucky who invited me to be the speaker at the Lexington Magnificat Prayer Breakfast held on December 9, 2023.  This event was the catalyst for my 10-day road trip.

The hospitality of the Kentucky women was above and beyond.  From the moment I arrived, I felt like I was home.  The event was held at the Cathedral of Christ the King in Lexington, Kentucky.

Christ the King parish was formed in 1945.  The current church building was constructed in 1965 and dedicated in May 1967.  The Diocese of Lexington was formed in 1988 serving 50 Kentucky counties.  In 1988, the Baptistery was also converted to the Eucharistic Chapel.  This chapel serves as a 24-hour prayer center for the people of Lexington.

As I entered the beautiful chapel, it was difficult to find a seat.  Many people were spending time with Jesus in this beautiful setting.

Here are more pictures of the inside of this beautiful cathedral.

My presentation went well.  The role of the presenter is to provide their testimony – to share what God has done in their lives and how they have seen God active in the ups and downs of life.  This was the first time that I did this presentation accompanied by a power point presentation.  This was a suggestion of one of the Magnificat core team members.  It was a lot of fun to select pictures for this presentation and to share them with others.

I am always amazed at the doors God opens for me.  I love sharing what He is doing in my life because I know this will encourage others to move closer to Him.

After the presentation, many attendees purchased my books and signed up for my mailing list so that I can update them on future blogs and Book #3 (which should be out by summer 2024).

This event was truly a blessing and I look forward to visiting Kentucky again.  There are several other beautiful Catholic sights to visit that I hope to complete in the Fall of 2024.  For example, did you know that there is an Ark in Williamstown, Kentucky built according to the dimensions outlined in the Bible?  Also, the world’s largest stain glass window is in a cathedral in Covington, Kentucky.  I originally planned to visit this cathedral during my trip, however, it was further north.  I was experiencing 28-degree weather in Lexington and snow had already fallen in the northern part of the state.  I decided it would be best to re-visit in the fall.  Another interesting discovery for a fall visit is an abbey in Trappist, Kentucky.  Stay tuned for future blogs!

Let me know in the comments below if you have ever been to a Magnificat Prayer Breakfast in your area.

A BIG THANK YOU to all my new Kentucky friends.  I am looking forward to visiting all of you again in 2024.

God bless all and Happy New Year! Looking forward to sharing great things in 2024.
