Upon Friar Review!

One of my favorite YouTube channels is Upon Friar Review.  This channel is hosted by two Franciscan friars – Father Casey Cole, OFM and Father Patrick Tuttle, OFM.  With over 138,000 subscribers, the friars review television programs, movies, TikTok videos, and other YouTube creations.  They provide wisdom and truth coupled with humor and wit.

Some of the recent videos include their reaction to the King of the Hill, The Chosen, The Unholy, and Nacho Libre – one bad friar!  The videos are usually a half hour long and full of fun.

In one video, Father Roberto “Tito” Serrano, OFM joins Father Casey and Father Patrick to review Nickelodeon Nostalgia. Both Father Casey and Father Tito grew up with Nickelodeon. The laughter, fun, and humor provided by these priests are contagious. It is so good to have priests provide a holy explanation to so many worldly shows. I highly recommend this YouTube channel for all ages.

Both Father Casey and Father Patrick live in Macon, Georgia – only 1 hour from Milledgeville, Georgia.

When visiting my daughter in Milledgeville, we decided to take a day trip to Macon.  We were told by the church office staff at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Macon that Father Patrick would be the priest presiding over the morning Mass at 9:00am.  I brought a copy of my book for Father Patrick and thanked him for providing the Upon Friar Review YouTube channel.

After stopping for lunch, my daughter and I headed downtown to visit Saint Joseph Catholic Church. What a beautiful church.

We spent an hour walking around and admiring all the beautiful stained glass windows and statues.  There are over 60 stained glass windows in Saint Joseph Catholic Church that were created in Bavaria, Germany.

The Catholic history for this area is very interesting.  It seems that the Franciscan friars have been part of the Macon area since the 1540s when they accompanied the explorer DeSoto and performed the first Christian baptism in the region.  However, the Jesuits, who arrived in Macon in 1876 were responsible for the building of the Saint Joseph Catholic Church.

The first phase of the church construction included the foundation and basement which was completed in 1889 and used for services until 1903.  It took 14 years to complete the upper part of the church displaying Romanesque Neo-Gothic architecture.  By 1923, Saint Joseph Catholic Church was referred to as one of the finest in the South.

It was a pleasure to meet Father Patrick and to share with each of you one of my favorite YouTube channels – Upon Friar Review.  I hope you take the time to review this YouTube channel and subscribe.  Touring Saint Joseph Catholic Church was a bonus as we explored all that Macon had to offer.

Here is one of my favorite Upon Friar Review videos.  ENJOY!
